The Safest and Most Effective Tile Cleaners in Raleigh

Tile and grout not properly cleaned can grow harmful microbes, and mold. This will not only result in foul odors and harboring bacteria, but without regular cleaning tile can lose its luster and be more difficult to clean. Its porous nature will begin to absorb all the bacteria and harmful mold that accumulates. Tile and grout cleaning becomes more difficult the longer is not properly cleaned.

So what do you use to clean your tile and grout? Chemicals can be hazardous to children and pets. You can’t restore the luster of a tile floor with store bought cleaners. While steam cleaning may seem like a good option, it may cause over-wetting and extended drying times.

Zerorez can clean, sanitizes and restore tile and grout to its original color and shine using our patented Empowered Water, positively non-toxic for people and pets. It will eliminate those embarrassing odors, and rid your home of allergens and germs that cause allergic reactions and infectious diseases. We then apply our proprietary surface sealer to protect and beautify your floor for years to come.

Care and Cleaning Of Your Oriental Rug

Oriental rugs have been used for thousands of years and bring color, warmth, culture and comfort to a home. Because these rugs can last for many years and be very valuable, caring for your rug can make your investment a treasured heirloom.

Although many carpets are called “Oriental” rugs, only the carpets woven in Asia, Iran, China, India, Russia, Turkey and Pakistan technically carry that label. Other rugs, such as Persian rugs, which are made in Iran, have many similarities in style and material as Oriental rugs.

Rugs are typically made of wool, and the fibers are dyed with natural dyes using plant materials and insects or with synthetic dyes. Because of the variety of material and dyes that may be used in Oriental and Persian rugs, it’s important to know how to keep them in good condition.

Most Frequent Problems with Your Rug

To help your rug last a long time, take some precautions to protect and preserve it. Most damage to Oriental rugs comes from:

  • Water seeping from potted plants that are placed on top of the rug.
  • Moth and carpet beetle larvae that settle into the rug and eat the fibers.
  • Chewing and scratches from pets.
  • Raking effect from a power brush on a vacuum cleaner that damages the fibers and rug fringes.

Check your rug for water, insect or pet damage on a regular basis, and frequently vacuum both sides of the rug thoroughly (without the power brush attachment) to keep your rug looking good.

Cleaning Your Oriental Rug

Although regular vacuuming can get rid of loose dirt, at some point, your rug will need a thorough cleaning. Experts say steaming a rug typically only cleans the surface but doesn’t get dirt that may be lodged deep down in the pile. Dry cleaning one of these rugs doesn’t help because although the solvents can remove the dirt, they can also dry out the rug.

Most hand made rugs are hand washed thoroughly to remove dirt and stains, but hand washing a rug involves completely submerging it in water, shampooing it on both sides, rinsing it and then letting it dry. Because many rugs are large and heavy, this is cumbersome to do, and the process can damage the rug fibers.

A Better Way to Clean

Zerorez Raleigh offers a different way to clean your Oriental rug. Our patented system uses “empowered water” to clean without harsh chemicals. Because the empowered water replaces the need for shampoos, less water is used on your rug, helping it to maintain and even regain its colors and to dry faster.

If your Oriental rug is dirty, call us to schedule a safe, effective and gentle cleaning: Zerorez Raleigh: office: 919-995-0000 or contact us online!

Let’s talk about tile

One of the most important aspects of cleaning your tile floor is making sure dirt and spills do not have a chance to settle. Life happens; instead of banning your family from walking on your kitchen floor, clean up spills or tracks as soon as possible. This is easy enough to do with a mop or cloth, and hot water. The easiest, quickest, and most effective step you can take is to regularly sweep, vacuum, and damp mop your bathroom, entryway, or kitchen tile floors. Regular maintenance is important as well.

Ceramic tiles are held in place by grout, which is typically white. Over time, and with exposure to the elements, this can become discolored and dingy. When this happens, it detracts from the beauty of your floor. To keep this from happening, and to preserve both your tile and grout, it is important to take care of your grout as well.

Eventually mopping your floor surface spreads soil around your floor surface, removing only what sticks to your mop or tile cleaning device. Over time the soil that is left behind on your floor darkens your tile and grout. The ZEROREZ® patented tile cleaning system uses Empowered Water™ at high, but safe pressure to remove soil and restore the color of your grout. We then apply our proprietary surface sealer to protect and beautify your floor for years to come.

Our patented tile cleaning system—cleaner, sealer, and protectant:

* Restores your floor’s appearance to “like new.”
* Removes soil build-up with our no residue technology.
* Prevents stains and soiling with our sealant product.
* Creates an invisible barrier that can block stain penetration.
* Leaves your floor easier to clean.
* Creates a smooth, more hygienic surface.
* Uses GREEN technology that protects your home and the environment

A Good Night’s Sleep Starts with a Clean Mattress

Nothing gets you ready for a good night’s sleep more than slipping in bed, between clean, soft sheets. But for some beds, clean sheets may not be enough to ensure a restful sleep. Even if your mattress is less than seven years old (the point in which The Better Sleep Council suggests you replace your mattress), it can still cause sleep disturbances and even illness.

What’s Under Your Sheets?

Every night as you sleep, you shed dirt and dead skin, which can work its way into your mattress. If pets sleep on your bed or in your kids’ beds, they may bring dirt, fur, bacteria and even bugs, such as ticks or fleas, in with them. Dust mites, which are microscopic, insect-like pests that feed on dead skin flakes. Hundreds of thousands of them can take up residence in your mattress and cause allergic reactions.

If young children who were recently potty trained or incontinent adults sleep on the mattress without adequate protection, bedwetting can be a problem as urine quickly seeps through the sheets to soak and stain the mattress.

Cleaning Your Mattress

With all the astounding amount of dirt that can be found in a mattress, the next question is—how to get rid of it?

The experts at Good Housekeeping suggest the following steps:

  • Vacuum your bed using the upholstery tool, making sure to get into every crevice. If you have a garment steamer, use this over the mattress surface before vacuuming to kill dust mites near the surface.
  • Clean stains with an upholstery cleaner
  • Spray the mattress and box spring with a disinfecting spray to kill odors.
  • Between cleanings, sprinkle baking soda on the mattress, wait 15 minute and vacuum.

As much as you want to keep your and your family’s mattresses clean, it is also important not to use harsh cleaning agents, whose residue can linger and be inhaled during the night.

Zerorez for Mattress Cleaning

For that reason, people in the Raleigh area who want to ensure their mattresses are clean, bug free—and safe, turn to Zerorez for mattress cleaning. At Zerorez, we don’t use harmful chemicals or cleaning agents, yet our anti-microbial protectant helps make your mattress a safe sleeping environment.

For more information on how to make sure your mattresses are clean and can give your family have a healthy, restful sleep, please call us at Zerorez Raleigh at 919-995-0000 or schedule a time for us to call here.

Science of Zerorez

The Science of Zerorez

Now that our kids in the Raleigh and Triangle area have settled into school, it may be time to focus on our own learning. We get a lot of questions from customers who ask how does Zerorez clean carpets without using soap? We use soap to clean clothes. We use soap to wash our hands. Don’t we need it to clean carpets effectively? These are excellent questions and make us think this is the perfect time to talk about the science of carpet cleaning.

For a long time the carpet industry thought that the only way to clean was with soap. Even now, many carpet cleaners use surfactants, or detergents that break up the surface tension of the carpet fibers, allowing the water to penetrate the soil. The problem comes when it is time to remove the dirt and detergent.

Think about washing clothes in a machine. When you use detergent, the clothes are soaked in water and rotated during the cycle to dislodge dirt and leave clothes clean. But soaking carpet can damage the fibers and it is impossible to rotate the carpet to get the dirt out.

As a result, most carpet cleaning leaves residue of dirt and detergent. That residue attracts more dirt on the carpet fibers, so your carpet looks dirtier faster.

The Zerorez Difference

But how can Zerorez clean without using soap? We use what we call “Empowered Water.” To understand empowered water, here’s the science lesson. We know that every molecule of water is made up of three atoms: two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom (H2O).

To make empowered water, we take regular tap water, put it through a softener to remove heavy metals and other elements, and then put it through a generator that splits the hydrogen atoms from the oxygen atoms. We then add sodium ion, which the hydrogen atoms cling to, creating a hydroxide molecule. That molecule now helps the water to clean as effectively as if detergent were added.

However, with Empowered Water, the carpet does not need to be soaked to remove remaining dirt or go through a spin cycle to remove any excess water. Our green method of cleaning also means there’s no strong detergent scent that can irritate those who are sensitive to pervasive smells. It means no harsh chemicals are used on your carpet, where you, your family members and your pets sit and play. And especially important, it means your carpets, upholstery, mattresses, air ducts, area rugs or any other surface, have a true, deep clean.

For more information about cleaning your carpets in a safe and environmentally friendly method, contact Zerorez of Raleigh at 919-995-0000 or schedule online.  We service all of the Triangle area including Raleigh Apex, Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill,  Morrisville and more.
